The Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Motorcycle Tyre features new materials and layouts in the Tyre structure for both Front and Rear. On the front Tyre there is a stronger chord and lower end-count which offers lightening handlebar response for enhanced rider feeling. On the rear sizes up to 190/50 ZR17 there is a RAYON structure and tuned pretension ratio (0 degree/ Ply). This provides the rider with superb feeling and trustful response to throttle inputs. For sizes 190/55 ZR17 and above, the Tyre has been structured using 3-wire strand LYOCELL chords which allow for brilliant traction when leaving the corner.

The Front Tyre has been constructed using a dual compound layout, both are full silica compounds with harder centres and softer shoulders to deliver excellent grip when riding in dry and wet conditions. 50% of the Tyre’s compound is the hard centre, which is full Silica with low T, allowing for a quick warm-up time. This centre section of the tyre will fulfil high speed stability and abrasion resistance. The Shoulders on the front tyre are made up of soft side silica compound (2x 25%). This is a full Silica Resin with a high melting point which provides extra grip when leaning.

The Rear Tyre features two Cap&Base layouts depending on the side. A 2 Compound 3 Zone can be found on sizes up to 190/50 ZR17, whilst a 3 Compound 5 Zone can be found on 190/55 ZR17 sizes and above. 25% of the 2 Compound 3 Zone sizes have a hard centre and base compound which is made from full Silica with low T for a quick warm-up time, homogeneous heat distribution and excellent abrasion resistance. The Shoulders have a soft side compound (2x 38%) which uses full Silica Resin with a high melting point. This allows the Tyre to perform with a Sports Touring warm-up and wet behaviour, with racing grip and consistent performance. The 3 Compound 5 Zone sizes have a slightly different construction. 20% of the Tyre has been made using a hard centre and base compound constructed from full Silica with low T for a quick warm-up time, homogeneous heat distribution and excellent abrasion resistant. Either side of this Centre are 2 x 19% of a soft side compound which uses full Silica for grip in wet and dry conditions. The compound used here also have a high melting point. The Shoulders of the Tyre use a racing compound, similar to that found in the SC3 Tyres for ultimate grip. They are made from full Carbon Black for thermal stability.

The tread pattern on these Tyres includes Flash Grooves and Lateral Grooves. The Flash Grooves promote rubber micro-mobility and ensure that water is drained as much as speed increases. The Lateral Grooves allow for mid-lean water drainage, smooth feedback for the rider whilst cornering, and maximise uniform wear. The Void / Fill ratio in the tread patter has been reduced on the dry area, and the shoulders are slick for when riding in full lean. The front and rear have been re-balanced for water drainage, and both have wear regularity and high speed stability.

These Tyres feature a new 120/70 ZR17 profile for the front which has been developed with the WSBK. This profile is able to offer a sharp centre for fast and responsive feedback for the rider when changing direction, along with lightness and ease throughout the journey. There is also a wider overall section which is excellent at holding the line whilst cornering and offers vigorous lateral thrust when riding at full lean. These features make this front the top WSBK choice which is available to all Pirelli riders. There is also a new profile in the 200/55 ZR17 for the rear. This Tyre also features a sharp centre which offers quick and reactive behaviour when changing direction, along with reshaped multi-radius mid-lean layouts and 200/60 like Shoulders .These features provide fast yet predictable tipping into the lead, excellent ling holding whilst cornering and vigorous lateral thrust at full lean.
