The Metzeler Roadtec 01 Motorcycle Tyre has been constructed from an improved compound solution to provide enhanced chemical grip and adhesive properties in all different situations. The compound emphasises the chemical properties and results more resistant to the wear process. The tyres feature a central stripe which has a balanced mixture of silica and carbon-black to enhance high-speed stability, heat dispersal and to also provide balance between abrasion resistance and grip. There is also a full-silica compound used in the shoulder, which when combined with the tread groove design, delivers excellent grip also on low friction surfaces.
Cap & Base has been used in this tyre, which is a thin layer of central compound extending underneath the shoulder compound. This is position to provide heat distribution, adding to the increased life and durability.
All Roadtec 01 Motorcycle Tyre (Radials) are coupled with the Metzeler 0° steel belt Interact technology which contributes to riding precision and high mileage. If purchasing the X-Ply fronts and rears, they feature a unique carbon-black based compound with a percentage of silica close to 30% that exploits the heat generated by the structure to reach optimal operating temperature and delivers top grip in the dry. Special resins enhance compound mobility and adhesive properties for incomparable wet grip.
The front tyres have several key features to be aware of. Transverse grooves are used to improve the grip on asphalt and increase the amount of water being drained in wet conditions. They also allow for better interaction with ABS. The shoulders of the front tyres have an increased groove distance, allowing for increased stability in the lean and precise handling. They also provide water drainage and all lean angles.
The rear tyres also have varied features in the tread pattern to improve performance. The rears feature ‘Saber’ grooves which enhance the traction of the compound, provide efficient water drainage and reduce the wear. Drop grooves can also be found to increase the traction on low friction surfaces, and improve the stability of the motorcycle when braking. These drop grooves also accelerate the compound warm up, allowing for high performance, quicker. The tyre also features a larger, yet shorter contact patch to reduce tyre wear, increasing mileage and performance consistency.
